Quart Shorts – professional actors reading ‘great new writing’

Held at the Bibliotheca Bar and Book Exchange on Tuesday 17 April 2018 at 7:00pm, Autumn Quart Shorts is an evening of ‘heart-warming and spine-tingling stories, poetry and narrative non-fiction‘ enjoyed over a glass of your favourite beverage. That’ll be gin for me, please.

In the words of Ben BrookerPatrick Frost and Janet Thomas (Quart Short organisers) what better way to warm up than with a scotch or two while Adelaide’s finest professional actors read some great new writing to you?’

The answer to that is there isn’t. There isn’t a better way to warm up.

So, after attending their last event, I decided to submit a short story of my own in the hope that I might hear it read aloud. Why is that? Why is it so lovely to hear someone else read stories out loud?

I was therefore thrilled to find out that my short story, Survivors of the Night, will be read alongside works by Lynette Washington (short story writer, editor and teacher of creative and professional writing) and Elaine Cain (Crush, Stories about Love), among others.

To get an idea of what Quart Shorts is about follow this link to the Quart Shorts website where you can hear pieces from some of their previous literary reading nights.

Tickets can be purchased at Trybooking for $5 before the event (4 tickets for just $16), or they will accept cash for entry on the night.

Such a great idea! And such a fun way to pass a couple of hours.

Thank you to everyone at Quart Shorts, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Would you like to submit a story for the next Quart Shorts?
